Rethinking Education? You Don’t Have to Do It Alone.
Navigating alternative education, unschooling, and homeschooling can feel overwhelming no matter the age of your child. I help families design unique, self-directed learning paths that honor curiosity and fit seamlessly within homeschool laws, completely stress-free.
Hi, I'm Marta.
I’m so glad you’re here. Educating each child individually, completely tailored to their unique needs, is one of my favorite things to do. And helping you fit that beautiful, alternative education into the rules of your local homeschool laws? That’s my second favorite.
My journey started in Spain, where I studied Special Education. I later moved to the U.S. and taught Preschool and Kindergarten. But once I saw how the traditional school system worked—both as a teacher and as a mother—I ran. I took my three children out of school and quit my job.
I dived headfirst into the homeschool world knowing absolutely nothing. I read everything I could get my hands on, asked questions, and learned a vital truth: the best way to educate children is to follow their lead. We embraced unschooling (inspired deeply by John Holt), and I watched my three children learn, follow their interests, and pursue their passions all the way into adulthood. It is a beautiful sight, and now I want to help you experience that same peace and joy with your kids.
What I Do Today
I don't just talk about education—I live it every single day.
By Morning: I evaluate traditional classrooms using the CLASS tool for TeachStone, giving me a front-row seat to what children truly need to thrive.
By Afternoon: I serve as a middle school, high school, and special education counselor for Pax Academy (an online umbrella school), helping self-directed older kids navigate their way to a real diploma.
Whether you have a toddler, a middle schooler, or a neurodivergent high schooler, I have the personal and professional experience to guide you.
When we understand the child, everything changes.

Deschool in 52 Weeks
A yearlong journey to help you deprogram the school mindset.
This book is different from my other two. It’s for the parent who already believes in educating without replicating school at home — who enjoys it, trusts it, and knows it works. Yet sometimes, old fears and doubts creep in.
Deschool in 52 Weeks isn’t meant to be devoured in a weekend. Instead, it’s a companion for the whole year, guiding you week by week to reflect, question, and slowly let go of the school mindset.
If my first book shares our story, and my second is a practical guide to facilitating self-directed learning, this third book focuses on internal transformation. It helps you strengthen your trust, ease your fears, and embrace the freedom of learning outside the box — one week at a time.
